Great Plains

It doesn’t take long,

Looking out to the union

Of road and sky,

To forget the hills

And valleys behind you,

The slowness of climbing

And the speed of descent

Melt away into the

Automated prescience

Of constant velocity,

Soon, all that is left

Is ceaseless change

And  its uniformity–

Like the yellow dashes

Of this infinite highway
