Their view from the ISS

Cosmonauts
and astronauts
floating in the station

Together
break daily bread
gravitation-less lunch

Do their work
experiments
unlocking mysteries

Speak of home
Moscow, Russia
and amber waves of grain

Watch the sun
rise 15 times
and set the same number

Timelessness
missing Earth’s soil
it all seems free up here

Fraternity
to need each part
and find ground in tension

Freedom from
peninsulas
so small and down below

Confused by
the weightiness
of ‘archies and ‘cracies

Can’t we float
together in
big vast star-struck expanse?

  1. Hey Daniel! I like your word conservation here–really mimicks the spaciness and compactness of your setting.
