Premature

Put out of your mind completely

Any millimetric fingers

Reaching towards nothing,

Accompanied by the small cries

And pitiful first breaths

Of pocket-sized humanity,

Do not dwell a moment

On the pillow-talk apologetics

Of frustrated lovers,

Cringing beneath thin darkness

Stained with early emissions,

Limp and naked, but together,

For these are seeds

Which bear in them

The weight of bending oaks–

No baby nor ejaculation

Has ever arrived one moment

Before its scheduled entrance.

Life is always on time.

No, it’s the Uninvited Guest

That always arrives

Unfashionably early,

While you’re still in the shower,

With your clothes laid out neatly

On the bedspread.
